WHAT IS THE FITZPATRICK SCALE?

There are two types of lasers for hair removal: IPL and Diode. Diode is much more effective than IPL. We have diode hair removal laser at Coast Aesthetics. THE BEST!

Many clinics advertise laser hair removal and try to get double usage out of their IPL laser handpiece, but IPL hair removal is slow, takes many more treatments, and can cause skin pigment issues. NOT US! We bought the best laser specifically for hair removal: A DIODE LASER.

Diode lasers use a single wavelength of light that has a high abruption rate in melanin. As the melanin heats up it destroys the root and blood flow to the follicle disabling the hair growth permanently. High quality laser hair removal machines, like ours at Coast Aesthetics, incorporates refrigeration contact cooling to protect the surface of the skin, making the treatment a comfortable, pain-free experience for patients. Diode lasers deliver high frequency, low fluence pulses and can be safely used on all skin types.

5-6 sessions are generally required. Hair loss is permanent, however sometimes a single touch up treatment is needed every few years. Please wait a full hair growth cycle between treatments, 6 weeks.

Not effective on grey hair.

Each treatment takes 10-40 minutes.

No waxing or plucking the hair for 6 weeks before. Waxing and plucking removes the follicle. To kill the follicle with the laser it has to be present.

Lasers remove tattoos by breaking up the pigment colors with a high-intensity light beam. Black tattoo pigment absorbs all laser wavelengths, making it the easiest color to treat. Other colors can only be treated by selected lasers based upon the pigment color. Tattoo ink is trapped in the deepest layer of the skin. When tattoos are applied, ink particles are inserted with a needle into varying depths of this bottom layer. When tattoo removal laser light is applied to the skin, it heats up and shatters the ink that it reaches first within the skin. In other words, the shallowest layers of ink are removed before the deepest layers. It takes multiple treatments to penetrate through all of the varying depths of ink in a tattoo. If a tattoo is particularly dark or bold, it will require more treatments to remove the ink compared to shaded tattoos with a lower density of ink.

We use one of the best lasers in the industry for tattoo removal. The Elman Q Switch.  

Generally 5-7 sessions are needed. After each visit, your tattoo should become progressively lighter. Black is the easiest color to remove. Yellow is the hardest. Some tattoos may never be fully removed, and may leave scarring.

How Quickly Will I See Results?  Immediately.

Pain: It can be uncomfortable; however it is tolerable with numbing cream and a cooling blast wand.  

Downtime: It will be red, scabby, sore, and itchy while healing. Skin will be mostly back to normal after one week.

Pain:
Patients might experience some discomfort during and after a treatment, but generally, it is easily tolerated by patients, and any pain goes away quickly.

Downtime:
The majority of patients are able to return to normal day-to-day activities the very next day after a mild treatment. For PRP, we draw your blood, put it in a centrifuge, harvest the PRP or plasma, then micro needle it back into your skin, which stimulates growth factors, cytokines, Hyaluronic Acid, and collagen production.
Microneedling works great to stimulate collagen on its own, but PRP serves as one of the BEST ways to really boost your collagen and improve everything from hyperpigmentation to acne scars.
